This is a recording of the first of three classes. Here, Pablo provides us with a unique perspective on the origins of tango. He relies solely on original sources and follows the various threads that converge to form a new type of dance: the Argentine Tango. This is not your usual 'tango started in houses of ill repute.' Beginning with a geographical description of the area that was the birthplace of tango and detailing the culture, publications, and customs of this unique society, a new picture emerges: Tango was born in a vibrant, cultured city that was cosmopolitan and had a unique blend of people from all over the world.
